Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple


Kateel (also known as Kateelu) is a temple town located at a distance of 29 km from Mangalore city in Dakshina Kannada district. This sacred place is surrounded by panoramic scenes and attractive greeneries.

This temple at Kateel is dedicated to Goddess Durga Parameshwari, also known as Bhramari. The holy temple is situated in the middle of the river Nandini. Thousands of devotees visit Sri Durga Parameshwari temple at Kateel every day to seek blessings from goddess Durga Parameshwari.
The Name KATEEL:
The word 'Kati' which means 'center' (between the 'Kanakagiri', birthplace of river Nandini and the end) and 'lla' which means 'area'. Thus the place is called 'Kati + lla' = Kateel.

Laksha Deepotsava: Festival of lights is celebrated on the day of Kartika Bahula Panchami.
