Ujire


Ujire is a small and beautiful town located in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. Ujire is located in the beautiful surroundings. Ujire town is popular for temples and educational institutions.

Ujire is an important junction for travelers who travel in this region. The road at Ujire deviates to Dharmasthala (towards Hassan, Bangalore), Kottigehara (towards Horanadu, Chikmagalur) and Belthangady (towards Mangalore)
Tourist places in and around Ujire:

Sri Janardhanaswamy Temple: Sri Janardhanaswamy Temple is one of the main attraction of Ujire town. The temple is dedicated to Lord Janardhana (Vishnu). This is 800 year old temple and featured as one of the oldest temples of South Canara or Dakshina Kannada district.

Surya Sadashivarudra Temple: Sadashivarudra Temple is located in beautiful surroundings at a distance of 6 Km from Ujire in Nada village. Many devotees from Karnataka visit Sadashivarudra Temple, near Ujire to get rid of their problems like Delay in Marriage, Education, Unemployment and Childlessness. Devotees offer idols of mud after the fulfillment of their wishes made here.

Jamalabad Fort: Jamalabad Fort was built in 1794 by Tippu Sultan and it is 1788 ft above sea level and was formerly called Narasimha Ghada. Jamalabad Fort is just 5 Km away from Ujire.

Dharmasthala: Dharmasthala is one of the important pilgrimage centers of Karnataka. A temple dedicated to Lord Manjunathaswamy (Shiva) is the main attraction of Dharmasthala. Thousands of people visit Dharmasthala every day. This number increases to million during lakshadeepotsava in November.
